Diva Watched "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" - Cluttered, But More Entertaining Than The First

Red Dot Diva was pleasantly surprised when Sony Pictures Singapore e-invited her and a small group of local bloggers for an exclusive snippets preview of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" a few weeks before the movie opens at local cinemas on May 1.

During the preview, the introduction by director Marc Webb and the specially selected movie snippets had already hinted of the spectacular 3D imaging used for the movie as well as of the exciting sequences in store. Red Dot Diva had a gut feel then, that the sequel was going to be a way better movie than the first installment.

And she was not wrong.

Based on her 3D experience of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" media premiere held on April 24 at GV Vivo (which has an amazing Spidey promo area, by the way - see pic below!), the following consists of Red Dot Diva's opinions about the movie.

Warning: Mild Spoilers!

Diva Catches Up With David Mack About "Captain America" and His Kickstarter Project!

Marvel superhero action movie "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" (currently showing in theatres) has been getting two thumbs up from a majority of comic book and pop-culture lovers internationally. Its engaging story-telling, energetic action sequences, sheer screen presence of its actors and that bromance (So.Much.Feels!) made the cinematic experience thoroughly enjoyable, even for comic book noobs.

Once the end title credits began to roll, the eye-catching animation and artwork caught many by surprise. Most of you are already aware of the identity of the artistic talent of the drawings used for the very snazzy credit sequence. But for those who may have been curious about the personality behind the striking images, wonder no more.

The artist involved in those few delightful minutes is none other than David Mack - creator of a comic book series called "Kabuki", who is also a New York Times #1 best-selling author/ artist ("Daredevil: End of Days" with Brian Michael Bendis, Klaus Janson, Bill Sienkiewicz and Alex Maleev), and whose innovative artwork have graced many comic covers including his run on Marvel's "Daredevil", Archaia's "Immortals: Gods And Heroes", Dark Horse's Buffy series "Willow" and Black Mask Studios' "Occupy Comics", to be released later this year.

SDCC 2014's Hotel Registration: Another Hurdle Completed, The Wait Begins

Arrrgh. San Diego Comic-Con Hotel Lottery = Even More Stressful Than Pre or Open Registration.

Just over an hour ago at 9 AM PST, there was a whole lot of nerves when the Travel Planners online registration portal for downtown hotel bookings was finally opened.

For the week leading up to the hotel registration, Red Dot Diva was busy hunting down those (very very) rare male virgins for blood sacrifices to the SDCC gods. Also, with @eserei27 at the helm, Red Dot Diva collaborated with her convention roomies by discussing on their strategies, agreeing on the 6 hotels they desired, and got familiarized with the layout of the booking form.

The irony is that most of her roomies are already planning on camping out on Hall H or Ballroom 20 lines, but felt that staying in the downtown hotels would be "more convenient". Strange, but true.

SANA Unleashes A Special Charity Screening for "X-Men: Days of Future Past"

It is time to pick a side, and join in the battle against drugs by contributing to a special charity screening of "X-Men: Days of Future Past"!

The screening is organized by the Singapore Anti-Narcotics Association (SANA), in conjunction with Cathay Cineplexes. SANA is a local-based non-profit organization set up with an aim to spread the word against narcotics and to assist with the rehabilitation of drug addicts.

From what Red Dot Diva learned, the theatre is a small on, so available seats will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.

Emerald City Comicon 2014 - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly: A Retrospective

Emerald City Comicon (ECCC) is fast becoming one of the more popular conventions for fans who are into comics more so than the pop-culture fest that San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) has been in recent years.

Red Dot Diva's Twitter pal, @TheArtimus (whom she has met at SDCC before) decides to take on ECCC this year.

And this is his experience at the Seattle-based convention!

-----------------------------------

This year marked my first trip to ECCC. While I’m not important to this article, a little background information might come in handy.

I’ve been to traditional comic conventions that are so tiny, you can throw a baseball from one end of the show floor to the other, and I’ve been lucky enough to attend the granddaddy of them all, San Diego Comic-Con.
